Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Open House and Air Show

The Thunder over the Blue Ridge Board of Directors has been working diligently to ensure that the air show scheduled for May 11 and 12, 2013 at the Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport in Martinsburg would be its usual success and community celebration of our armed forces.  The Board could not have been more excited since the show was scheduled to feature the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.  It would have been our way of saying thank you to the 167th Air National Guard for all they do in our community.

Unfortunately, due to the automatic cuts in federal spending caused by the sequestration that has gone into effect, the Thunderbirds appearances and operations have been cancelled for all events scheduled for after March 31, 2013.  As a result of the loss of the featured act, the Board has reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s air show.  If federal budgetary and insurance issues are resolved in relatively short order, the Thunder over the Blue Ridge board will consider reinstating the event.
